Suzy Martin is an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor who works with diverse individuals, couples and families of all ages, identities, and backgrounds, especially youth who have experienced trauma, navigate neurodiversity, struggle with behavior, or simply need therapeutic support.
Suzy received her Master of Arts degree from Northwestern University with a specialization in child and adolescent counseling. She graduated as an Emerging Scholar, is involved in international mental health research and advocacy efforts, and currently serves as President-Elect of Chi Sigma Iota, Nu Upsilon Omega chapter. She holds dual B.A.s in Drama and English from the University of California, Irvine, and brings a rich background in theatre, teaching, and educational therapy. Suzy is an active member of the American Counseling Association, the International Association for Counseling, the Association for Play Therapy, the society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities, and the California Association for Licensed Clinical Counselors.
Recognizing the uniqueness of each individual, Suzy uses a multiculturally competent and neuro-affirming integrated approach (including psychodynamic, CPT, play therapy, IFS, trauma-informed, and person-centered methodologies) to serve her clients with attunement. Some of her interests include somatic work, grief and loss, serving marginalized populations, and promoting international and culturally conscious mental wellness. Suzy believes counseling is an inclusive, shared process of growth and that global mental wellness fosters unity and collective healing. On a fun note, Suzy enjoys spending time with family and friends, running, painting, wood-working, traveling, adores her fur babies, and endeavors to incorporate humor and play into all aspects of her life.
